Account Deletion Request

At Nextstapp UG (Haftungsbeschränkt), we respect your privacy and your right to control your personal data. This page explains how you can request the deletion of your account and associated data from the Learn German with Practice (Lingzy) app.
Quick Summary: You can delete your account directly within the app, or contact us via email to request account deletion.
Option 1: Delete Your Account Within the App (Recommended)
The fastest and easiest way to delete your account is directly through the app:

Open the App and go to the Settings tab (gear icon)

Navigate to App Settings

Tap on "Delete Account"

Confirm your decision in the popup dialog
Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted immediately.
Option 2: Request Deletion via Email
If you cannot access the app or prefer to request deletion via email, please send an email to:
Please include the following information in your email:
- The email address associated with your account
- Your reason for deletion (optional, but helps us improve)
We will process your request within 7 business days and send you a confirmation email once your account has been deleted.
What Data Will Be Deleted?
When you delete your account, the following data will be permanently removed from our systems:
- Profile Information: Your name, email address, date of birth, gender, German proficiency level, native language, "about me" text, and profile photo
- Authentication Data: Your Firebase user ID and login credentials
- Chat Messages: All messages you have sent or received in real-time chat conversations with other learners
- User Preferences: Your app settings and preferences stored on our servers
- Subscription Link: The association between your account and any RevenueCat subscription (note: the subscription itself is managed by the app store)
What Data Is NOT Deleted?
Certain data cannot be deleted by us or is retained for legal/business purposes:
- Subscription and Payment Records: Your purchase history and subscription records are managed by Google Play Store or Apple App Store. You must contact them directly if you wish to manage this data.
- Anonymized Analytics: Aggregated, anonymous usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you may be retained for service improvement.
- Local Device Data: Data stored locally on your device (such as app preferences in AsyncStorage) is not automatically deleted. You can remove this by uninstalling the app.
- Legal Obligations: We may retain certain information if required by law or to protect our legal interests.
Important Notes
- Irreversible Action: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data, progress, and chat history will be lost forever.
- Active Subscription: Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription. Please cancel your subscription through your app store (Google Play or Apple App Store) before or after deleting your account to avoid future charges.
- Processing Time: In-app deletion is instant. Email requests are processed within 7 business days.
Retention Period After Deletion Request
Once you request account deletion:
- In-app deletion: Data is deleted immediately
- Email request: Data is deleted within 7 business days of receiving your request
- Backup systems: Data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being automatically purged
